2. Other Electronic Devices
Many families often use the space on top of the fridge to place other electronic devices such as microwaves. However, this is not advisable. Household appliances like microwaves can emit electromagnetic waves, causing interference and damaging the fridge’s cooling system.
Moreover, a microwave can be quite heavy. Refrigerators are designed to stand alone and are not meant to bear the weight of other devices placed on top. Placing a heavy electronic device on top of the fridge will make it bear a large load, which can cause the refrigerator to work harder and increase electricity consumption.
Other electronic devices also emit heat when in use. This heat directly affects the refrigerator’s ability to dissipate heat, causing it to overheat and shortening its lifespan.
3. Dust Covers
Many families feel that the living environment is too dusty and it’s inconvenient to clean frequently, so they put a dust cover on top of the refrigerator. When cleaning, they simply remove the cover, shake off the dust, and put it back. However, refrigerators operate continuously day after day and require space to release heat. Placing a cloth on top of the fridge will directly impact the heat dissipation process, raising the temperature and reducing the cooling efficiency. Over time, this will reduce the lifespan of the refrigerator.
