BREAD Use thickly sliced white bread, either sourdough or normal bread, for the greatest garlic cheese toast. You could find it in the frozen food aisle at your local supermarket under the name “Texas Toast.” Try to get bread that is substantial enough to soak up your soup or sauce and contain all of your toppings.Toast

BUTTER For optimal results, use butter. You can use margarine instead of butter if you like, but it won’t taste the same.

A type of cheese Parmesan, cheddar, and Monterey Jack were the cheeses I used. Go ahead and use any cheese you happen to have! You can’t go wrong with mozzarella, Emmental, or Swiss.

Fresh garlic The addition of fresh, minced garlic makes all the difference. To taste, adjust the amount of garlic according to your preference.

Arrange the pieces of bread on a baking pan.

Melt the butter and, if used, mince the garlic in a small bowl.

Spread the mixture evenly over the bread pieces using a brush.

On top of every piece, distribute the grated cheese equally.

Ten to twelve minutes in a preheated oven should be enough time to melt the cheese and turn the bread golden brown.

Hot is best.
