The oven is one of the most used appliances in the kitchen, but it can often happen that oil or fats leak out during cooking which, if not removed promptly, burn and leave annoying residues in the oven.
However, you don’t have to use harsh chemicals to clean your oven. Instead, you can use Marseille soap, a natural and gentle solution to get rid of burnt oil and residue in your oven. Here’s a guide on how to do it.
1. Necessary tools:
Before you begin, make sure you have everything you need for this operation:
Marseille soap
Hot water
Sponge or cloth
Protective gloves
Oven scraper or plastic spatula
A basin
2. Prepare the cleaning mixture:
First, wear protective latex gloves.
Mix the Marseille soap with warm water in a bowl. Use about 1-2 tablespoons of soap for every liter of water.
Marseille soap is a gentle yet effective detergent, ideal for this cleaning task.
3. Apply the mixture to the oven surfaces:
Apply the mixture of Marseille soap and water to the surfaces of the oven where there are residues of burnt oil. Make sure to cover all affected areas well.
4. Let the mixture act:
Let the Marseille soap mixture act on the dirty surfaces of the oven for at least 30-60 minutes. This will allow the soap to soften the burnt residue, making it easier to remove.
5. Clean with a spatula or scraper:
After the soap has taken effect, use an oven scraper or plastic spatula to scrape away the softened residue.
Be sure to work gently so as not to scratch the oven surfaces.
6. Rinse with clean water:
Use a cloth or sponge soaked in clean water to rinse the oven surfaces and remove any remaining soap residue and dirt.
You will need to apply several passes to clean thoroughly.
