Keep your seeds instead of throwing them away!
When we eat lemons, we usually like the juice, flesh, and skin without paying attention to the seeds. But why should we get rid of them? You can use lemon seeds in many different ways to make this amazing fruit even more valuable. Let’s find out how to use them effectively.
Cultivating Your Own Lemon Tree
After you squeeze a lemon, put the seeds aside and wash them well with water at room temperature. After cleaning, lay them on a paper towel and let them dry completely. Now, it’s time to remove the outer layer of the seeds using tweezers.
Get a small container, such as a yogurt cup, and put some wet cotton inside. Put the seed in the cotton and wait for a week for it to grow. Soon, you will see a small plant growing from the seed. Make sure the cotton and the area around it stay damp until the young plant begins to grow small roots. Next, move the young plant to a small pot with a mix of soil and perlite that drains well. To help the plant grow well, make sure it is placed in a warm and well-ventilated spot, away from any drafts. If you are patient and take good care of it, your lemon tree will produce tasty fruits when it grows up.
