Living in a private house has its pros and cons, but I never thought I’d face such a problem, especially in a cottage village!
In the countryside, where livestock and pets create a constant stream of manure, expecting no flies is unrealistic. But in a cottage village!
Lately, we’ve had a real invasion of flies. The warming and heat did their job — the buzzing army multiplied to incredible numbers.
Moreover, many people in cottage villages have started keeping livestock. There’s a neighbor with turkeys, another with chickens, and across the diagonal — chickens, turkeys, geese, and even a few goats. Not to mention the equestrian school across the street, which adds horse manure to the mix.
All this makes our workshop window an open invitation for flies. We closed the windows, hung mosquito nets and fabric scraps over the doors. We put up sticky tapes on the ceiling, which quickly filled with flies.
