This small, abandoned pup had found a makeshift home in a shoebox outside a house. Nestled close to a building, it was clear that this was a spot where the puppy felt relatively safe. The homeowners noticed her presence and, moved by compassion, began to provide her with just enough food each day to keep her alive.
This routine continued for several weeks, during which time they reached out to two different animal shelters to try and get some answers. Who was this lone puppy? Why had she been left alone to fend for herself?
The Rescue Mission
Enter Eldad Hagar and Loreta Frankonyte from a local animal rights organization, who picked up the case and decided to intervene. Upon reaching the pup and lifting her gently from her shoebox, they discovered that she was missing a leg. The poor dog was extremely weak at this point and barely able to move.
Without a second thought, Hagar and Frankonyte carefully carried the little dog to their car and rushed her to a veterinarian for a thorough examination. The pup, soon dubbed “Princess,” was infested with fleas and covered in dirt. She was immediately given a bath, which not only helped clean her up but also revealed just how tiny and fragile she truly was.
