Beyoncé, who was once known for her R&B and pop hits, surprised many by dabbling in country music in some songs, especially through her performance at the Country Music Awards (CMA). Some traditional country music fans were uncomfortable with the appearance of a pop icon in a space that was traditionally the “territory” of long-standing country artists.
However, Carlene Carter has spoken out in support, not only defending Beyoncé’s right to explore and contribute to country music, but also emphasizing that her presence is a breath of fresh air. Carlene emphasizes that music should not be limited by any framework and artists need to be free to express themselves, regardless of the genre they come from.
