His likeness was based on a first-century Israelite skull and was shown in the BBC documentary Son of God.
The forensic recreation, like Uterwijk’s painting, did not resemble the ‘European’ Jesus familiar to Westerners.
A short, stocky man with olive skin, dark hair, and a trim beard was depicted.
