Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
1 egg
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1 cup beef broth
1 cup green beans, trimmed (fresh or frozen)
1 cup mashed potatoes (prepared)
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prepare for the casserole.
Prepare the Beef Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined, then shape the mixture into oval patties.
Brown the Patties:
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the patties on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
Make the Sauce:
In the same skillet, pour in the cream of mushroom soup and beef broth. Stir to combine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
Layer the Ingredients:
In the prepared baking dish, place the browned hamburger patties in a single layer. Pour the mushroom sauce over the patties, then add the green beans on top. Finally, spoon the prepared mashed potatoes over the entire dish, spreading evenly.
Bake:
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve:
Scoop the Amish Hamburger Steak Bake onto plates and serve hot. Enjoy this hearty and satisfying dish that brings comfort to the table!
Enjoy!
