Step 3: Poke the Cake
Using the handle of a wooden spoon or a straw, poke holes all over the cooled cake. Make sure the holes are evenly spaced to allow the custard to seep into the cake.
Once the holes are made, pour the custard filling over the cake, making sure to spread it evenly and fill each hole. Use a spatula to smooth the top of the cake.
Step 4: Prepare the Chocolate Glaze
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and unsalted butter together in 30-second intervals, stirring in between each interval. Continue until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
