Pineda was reported missing on August 26 after she was last seen at a mining claim camp in Nevada City, California. The area where she went missing was difficult to navigate, requiring skilled search and rescue volunteers to rappel in and out of the canyon.
After being rescued on Friday, she required immediate medical attention and was airlifted to a hospital by the California Highway Patrol. The sheriff’s office expressed gratitude for finding Pineda alive, noting the extensive ground covered by the search teams during the operation.
