Directions:
Preheat Oven:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
Prepare the Ingredients:
2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess fat.
3. Add the diced tomatoes, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir well and let it simmer for a few minutes.
4. In a separate bowl, mix together the sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese.
Layer the Casserole:
5. Spread half of the chopped cabbage in the bottom of the greased baking dish.
6. Pour the beef and tomato mixture over the cabbage layer.
7. Spread the sour cream and cheese mixture over the beef layer.
8. Top with the remaining chopped cabbage.
9. Melt the butter and mix it with the bread crumbs. Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the casserole.
Bake the Casserole:
10. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
Serve:
12. Let the casserole cool slightly before serving.
13. Scoop out generous portions onto plates and enjoy your warm and cheesy cabbage casserole!
