Instructions:
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon of butter and set aside.
Step 2
In a food processor, crush the golden Oreos into small crumbs. Add the melted butter and pulse until combined.
Step 3
Press the cookie mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the crust. Place the crust in the freezer for 10 minutes to set.
Step 4
In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and 1 cup of the thawed whipped topping until smooth.
Step 5
Spread this mixture over the chilled cookie crust and return the dish to the freezer for another 10 minutes.
Step 6
In another bowl, whisk together the cheesecake-flavored instant pudding mix, whole milk, and 1/2 cup of the whipped topping until thickened.
Step 7
Spread the pudding mixture evenly over the chilled cream cheese layer and refrigerate for 30 minutes, or until set.
Step 8
Carefully spread the cherry pie filling over the chilled pudding layer.
Step 9
Spread the remaining whipped topping over the cherry pie filling layer and sprinkle with chopped pecans or walnuts.
Step 10
Chill the dessert in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours before serving.
