Instructions
1: Preheat & Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2: Make the Cake Batter:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract; beat until smooth.
Stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin).
3: Bake the Cakes:
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
4: Prepare the Frosting:
Beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder.
Add the milk and vanilla extract, and beat until the frosting is light and fluffy.
5: Assemble & Enjoy:
Once the cakes have cooled, frost one layer, stack the second layer on top, and frost the entire cake.
