- In a skillet, heat about 1/4 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.
- Carefully add the cornbread patties to the hot oil, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the skillet.
- Fry the cornbread patties for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the cornbread from the skillet and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve the hot water cornbread warm with your favorite dishes, such as beans, greens, or barbecue.
