Actor Matthew McConaughey, 54, was born and raised in Uvalde, Texas, so the tragic school shooting that happened there in May 2022 hit very close to heart.
Following the tragic occurrence at Robb Elementary School, when two teachers and nineteen kids were murdered by an ex-student, McConaughey was present at a White House briefing where he implored the American people to “renegotiate our wants from our needs.”
Background checks and appropriate ownership are needed. We should set a minimum age of 21 to buy an AR-15 gun. Those firearms need a waiting time. These rules are sensible, practical, and tactical; we need laws that indicate danger and have repercussions for those who misuse them, he said.
“Responsible gun owners are fed up with the Second Amendment being abused and hijacked by some deranged individuals,” further states the Oscar-winning actor.
