For the Marinara Sauce

  • 1 jar (15 oz) marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

For the Creamy Dip

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Mozzarella Sticks

Start by prepping your breading station:

In one shallow dish, mix together the flour, panko, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.

Coat the mozzarella cubes:

  • Dip each cube into the egg mixture first.
  • Then roll it in the flour-panko blend, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  • For extra crispiness, repeat the dipping process for a double coating.

Pro Tip: Place coated mozzarella sticks in the freezer for 15–20 minutes before frying. This prevents the cheese from oozing out too quickly during cooking.

2. Fry to Crispy Perfection

In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat until shimmering (about 350°F / 175°C).

  • Fry a few mozzarella sticks at a time, about 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Safety Tip: Don’t overcrowd the skillet. Fry in small batches to maintain the oil temperature and ensure even cooking.

3. Whip Up the Creamy Dip
