Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven:
Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter to prevent sticking.
2. Prepare the Potatoes:
Peel and thinly slice the potatoes (about 1/8 inch thick). Use a mandoline for even slices.
3. Make the Cream Mixture:
In a bowl, combine heavy cream, minced garlic, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Stir until blended.
4. Layer the Dish:
Spread half of the potato slices in the greased dish.
Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes.
Sprinkle half of the Gruyere and Parmesan on top.
Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
5. Bake:
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for an additional 30–40 minutes, or until the top is golden and crispy.
6. Cool and Serve:
Let the gratin rest for about 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley (optional).
