Instructions:

1. Cut the angel food cake into cubes and set aside.
2. In a bowl, whisk together the pudding mix, milk, sour cream, and vanilla extract until smooth. Set aside.
3. In a 13×9 inch baking dish, layer half of the cake cubes on the bottom of the pan. Spoon half of the cherry pie filling over the cake.
4. Repeat the layers with the remaining cake cubes and cherry pie filling.
5. Pour the prepared pudding mixture over the top of the cake, spreading it evenly.
6. Spoon the whipped topping over the pudding layer, spreading it to cover the entire surface.
7. Place the remaining cherry pie filling on top of the whipped topping layer.
8. Refrigerate the cake for at least 4 hours, or until set.
9. Sprinkle the toasted almonds over the cake just before serving, if desired.
