250 g chickpeas
500 g meat
1 onion
1 green pepper
1 chili pepper (optional)
2 teaspoons ground chili pepper
1.5 tablespoons tomato puree
1 pinch oregano
1 pinch thyme
1 pinch dried mint
Salt to taste
preparation
Start by soaking the chickpeas in water for at least 12 hours. After this time, drain and set aside.
We cut the meat into medium pieces. In a large saucepan, heat a little oil over medium heat and brown the meat until it is well sealed on all sides. We remove and reserve.
In the same saucepan, add the chopped onion and the green pepper cut into pieces. We fry until tender.
If you decide to use the hot pepper, add it now with the ground pepper and the tomato puree. We mix well and let it cook for a few minutes.
We add the soaked chickpeas to the saucepan with the browned meat. We cover with enough water so that all the ingredients are well covered.
Season with a pinch of oregano, thyme and dried mint. We add salt to taste.
Cover the saucepan and let it cook over low heat for about 1 hour and a half, or until the chickpeas are tender and the meat is well cooked.
If necessary, add water during cooking to prevent the stew from becoming too dry.
Serve with a little rice and enjoy this delight
Tips:
Chilli: Chilli is optional, but if you like a spicy touch, feel free to add it!
