Step 3: Prepare the Apple Filling 🍏
In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice to prevent browning.
Add the white sugar , flour , cinnamon , nutmeg (if using ), and mix well to coat the apples evenly.
Pour the apple mixture into the crust-lined pan, spreading it out evenly.

Roll out the second portion of dough to fit the top of the pan. Place it over the apples, trimming any excess dough.
Seal the edges by crimping with a fork or your fingers. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.

Bake in the preheated oven for 40–45 minutes , or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
