Bad Odors from Toilets Citric acid, derived from citrus fruits, is used in many culinary applications. It is also an excellent cleaning agent for cleaning pipes, descaling and limiting the formation of sediment.
To use it, pour two tablespoons of citric acid into the toilet bowl and let it sit overnight. The next morning, flush the toilet and you’re done.
