One of the appliances to which we dedicate the least care and maintenance is our oven, despite the fact that it is used a lot and is prone to accumulating grease and other food residues that, over time, harden and become difficult to eliminate.
Vinegar is one of the most powerful and versatile cleaning products, and it can also be a great help for cleaning our oven. It contains compounds that make it easy to remove dirt, including caked-on grease.
Remember that the oven must be cleaned periodically and you should never let too much grease accumulate. Once encrusted, in fact, in addition to being unhygienic, grease can actually reduce the oven’s capacity.
To clean it periodically, simply wipe the interior surfaces with a cloth dipped in a solution of equal parts vinegar and water. If the dirt doesn’t come off with the cloth, scrub with a sponge. Make sure to use a lint-free cloth.
Remove and soak the oven racks in a solution of 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water. Leave for about 20 minutes, then scrub well with a sponge and rinse with plenty of water.
If the dirt doesn’t come off, try adding a little baking soda for an even stronger descaling action.
