Harvest the Imphepho: Collect fresh stems of the Imphepho plant, ensuring they are clean and dry. The best time to harvest is early morning when the plant’s oils are most concentrated.
Group the Stems: Take several stems and group them together into a small bundle, arranging them neatly so the ends are even.
Tie the Bundle: Use natural twine or string to tie the bundle tightly at the base. Wrap the string around the bundle several times, securing it firmly to prevent it from falling apart as it dries.
Dry the Bundles: Hang the bundles upside down in a cool, dry place with good airflow. Allow them to dry for 1-2 weeks until completely dehydrated.
Smudge and Cleanse: Once dry, light the tip of the bundle and blow out the flame, letting the herb smolder. Use the smoke to cleanse spaces, objects, or yourself.
