Prepare the Cleaning Mixture:
Combine the baking soda and salt in a small container. These ingredients work together to create an abrasive and antibacterial mixture that helps to scrub away plaque and kill bacteria.
Brush Your Teeth:
Wet your toothbrush under warm running water, dip it into the baking soda-salt mixture, and brush your teeth thoroughly. This will help remove surface stains and plaque, leaving your teeth feeling clean and smooth.
Spit out the homemade paste after brushing.
Prepare the Mouthwash:
Mix ½ cup of hydrogen peroxide with ½ cup of warm water. The hydrogen peroxide acts as a disinfectant, killing bacteria that cause bad breath and gum disease.
Swish the mixture in your mouth for approximately one minute. Be careful not to swallow it, as hydrogen peroxide can be harmful if ingested.
Clean Hard-to-Reach Areas:
For hard-to-reach areas, use a toothpick to remove excess tartar. This step helps to ensure that no plaque is left behind, especially in between teeth and along the gumline.
After using the toothpick, rinse your mouth with cold water to remove any remaining debris.
Safety Precautions:
Caution: Since hydrogen peroxide can be harmful if swallowed, keep the mouthwash away from children.
Frequency: Repeat this process up to twice a week. Overuse of abrasive ingredients like baking soda and hydrogen peroxide can damage tooth enamel and irritate gums, so it’s important to use this routine in moderation.
