Instructions:
First, pop the popcorn: In a large pot, heat the oil over medium heat. Once it’s hot, add the corn kernels, cover the pot, and wait until all the kernels have popped. When done, set the popcorn aside in a glass dish.
Then, make the syrup: In a separate pot, combine the sugar and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the syrup thickens slightly and reaches a thread-like consistency. This should take about 5 to 7 minutes.
Next, pour the syrup over the popped popcorn and stir well to coat everything evenly. The popcorn will become sticky and glossy.
After that, while the popcorn is still hot, transfer it to a large bowl and sprinkle powdered milk over the top.
Then, gently mix to make sure all the popcorn gets covered with the milk powder without breaking the pieces.
Finally, let it cool down. As it cools, the syrup will harden and form a crispy coating on the outside. It’s absolutely delicious!
Tips:
- Use whole milk powder for a richer flavor.
- For an extra festive touch, you can add some shredded coconut along with the milk powder.
- If you have any leftovers (which is unlikely!), store them in a tightly sealed container to keep them crunchy.
