While my Easter basket came with one major gift (the Barney stuffed animal) and some candy and stickers, the trend has evolved significantly over the years. Nowadays, many parents are going all out, creating elaborate baskets that seem more fitting for a visit from Santa Claus than a magical bunny.
One TikTok mom expressed her surprise at this shift. “When was anybody going to tell me that Easter is practically Christmas number two?” she questioned.
She continued, “That’s what’s happening. That’s what everybody is out here doing. Just gifts, gifts, gifts. I didn’t budget for this. Not that I budget anyway. I don’t budget my money. That was a funny comment. It’s getting a little out of hand.”
While parents are free to celebrate holidays however they choose, the question arises: Is all this excess necessary? Some TikTok videos show Easter baskets filled with high-end items like Stanley water bottles, Sol De Janeiro lotions, and Lululemon merch—amazing, but is it over the top?
