Cream cheese, room temperature 8 ounces
Unsalted butter, room temperature 1/4 cup
Powdered sugar 2 1/4 cups
Fine salt 1/4 teaspoon
Directions for the Frosting
In a large bowl, beat the room temperature cream cheese and butter together until smooth and completely lump-free, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Gradually add the powdered sugar and fine salt to the cream cheese mixture. Beat on low speed until the sugar is mostly incorporated, then increase the speed to medium and beat until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
To Assemble the A&P Spanish Bar
Once the cake is completely cool, remove it from the baking pan and place it on a cutting board.
Carefully slice the cake horizontally in half to create two layers.
Transfer one cake layer to a serving tray or plate.
Spread the frosting evenly over the top of the first cake layer.
Carefully place the second cake layer on top of the frosting.
Spread the remaining frosting evenly over the top of the second cake layer.
Optional: For a grooved pattern, use a fork to gently draw lines across the top of the frosting.
Slice and serve. Enjoy your A&P Spanish Bar!
