I was lucky enough to learn a fantastic recipe from my Chinese friend that has quickly become one of my favorites. These homemade dumplings have the perfect balance of flavor and texture. They are incredibly easy to make and absolutely delicious, whether you steam, boil, or pan-fry them. If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at authentic Chinese dumplings, this recipe will guide you step-by-step to create an irresistible dish.
Ingredients:
For the Dumpling Filling:
1 lb ground pork (or chicken, beef, or tofu for a vegetarian option)
1 cup finely chopped napa cabbage (or regular cabbage)
1/2 cup finely chopped shiitake mushrooms (or any mushrooms of your choice)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
2 tbsp soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tsp rice vinegar
1/4 tsp white pepper
2 green onions, finely chopped
1/2 tsp sugar
For the Dumpling Wrappers:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup water (adjust as needed)
Pinch of salt
Directions:
Prepare the Filling:
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork with the chopped cabbage, mushrooms, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, white pepper, green onions, and sugar.
Use your hands or a spoon to mix the ingredients together until the filling is well-combined. Set aside.
