1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well and shape into four patties.
2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the hamburger patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
3. In the same skillet, add the butter, sliced mushrooms, and onions. Sauté until the mushrooms are golden brown and the onions are soft, about 5 minutes.
4. Stir in the beef broth, heavy cream, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
5. Return the hamburger patties to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Let them simmer in the sauce for another 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
6. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving, if desired.
Variations & Tips
For a bit of spice, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the beef mixture. If you’re not a fan of mushrooms, try using bell peppers or zucchini instead. For a cheesy twist, sprinkle some shredded cheddar or mozzarella on top of the patties before serving. And if you’re cooking for little ones who might be picky about onions, you can finely chop them or even blend them into the sauce for a smoother texture.
