The mother-in-law then contacted the OP and gave him a disturbing message. She stated that if the paternity test disproved the biological link between the husband and the child, she would use her influence to ensure that the OP faced significant consequences in the upcoming divorce, vowing to see her « pilloried ».

During this difficult time, the woman found support and help in her sister, who became a pillar of strength, helping her care for the child in these tumultuous circumstances.

A day before sharing her story online, the OP and her husband received their paternity test results. “I was on the couch in the living room, so [my husband] sat down next to me and we started reading the results,” the OP said. “They were pointing out that he was the father, and my husband had this shocked, slightly mortified look on his face, his eyes wide and his gaze fixed on him.”

How did the OP react?
Unable to contain herself, the OP couldn’t help but blurt out, “I told you so,” and burst out laughing at her husband’s shocked expression. This reaction brought him out of his initial state of shock, and because he was so amused, he became angry. A heated argument ensued, mostly characterized by raised voices, until the OP’s sister came down the stairs, shushing her husband.

After the fight, the husband retreated back to his parents’ house, claiming he needed to “clear his head.” A few hours later, the OP was scolded by her mother-in-law, who expressed disapproval of her laughter, believing it to be a kick to her husband while he was down.
