The bereaved squad continued by expressing how much the community and themselves mourn the legendary athlete, before concluding by requesting prayers for the Gaudreau family as they cope with an indescribable tragedy.Additionally, the Columbus Blue Jackets have requested that the privacy of the grieving family be honored. Similar to the message released by Johnny’s hockey club, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman also issued a statement on the tragic loss.
He wrote a long post on the NHL’s official PR page praising Johnny for his 11 years in the league and calling him one of the “brightest young stars” the league has ever seen.After Gary’s parents, Guy and Jane, as well as his sisters Kristen and Katie, as well as his wife Meredith and children Noa and Johnny, he sent his “deepest condolences” to all of them.
Following initial reports of the tragedy, the tragic news of Johnny and Matthew’s deaths has now been released.
