How to Use It?
There are 3 types of ox gall soap available: the traditional soap bar, liquid, and stick. How you use them differs depending on the type.
The traditional soap bar: Wet it with some water. Apply the wet soap to the stain and rub it in with your fingers, a brush, or a cloth. Let it sit for a while. Then rinse the fabric thoroughly. If it’s a piece of clothing or something that can go in the washing machine, wash it as usual.
The stick: Works the same way as the soap bar but is more convenient if you’re traveling, for example.
The liquid version: If you have several items of clothing or laundry with many stains, you can opt for the liquid version. Add it to the detergent compartment of the washing machine. You can also pre-treat stubborn stains by applying a bit of the liquid soap to the spot first. Then wash as you normally would.
Things to Keep in Mind When Using Ox Gall Soap:
If you apply ox gall soap to the stain, don’t let it dry out, as this can actually cause more stains.
If you’re washing the clothing or fabric after applying it in the machine, choose a washing program no higher than 50 degrees Celsius. Higher temperatures can reduce the soap’s effectiveness.
When drying the clothing or other fabrics, avoid drying them near a heat source or in direct sunlight, as this could cause stains.
Not all fabrics are suitable for cleaning agents, no matter how mild ox gall soap is. Check the care label before use and test it on a small, inconspicuous area first to see if the material can handle the soap.
Removing Stains That Can’t Go in the Washing Machine
If you have stains on a sofa or somewhere that can’t be put in the washing machine, rub the stain with ox gall soap, then rinse thoroughly or blot with a damp cloth. Keep doing this until both the soap and the stain are gone.
