Directions:
In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
Add the warm milk, egg and butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a smooth dough forms.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Put the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.
After rising, take the dough and divide it into 12 equal parts. Form a ball with each portion and flatten it slightly. Grease small baking sheets with butter and sprinkle the bottom with poppy seeds. Place the dough balls in the molds, with the seeds facing down, then turn them over so that the seeds are on top.
Cover the molds and allow the buns to rise again until they swell and fill the molds, about 45 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 190°F (375°C).
Brush the top of the buns with egg for a shiny effect.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes before serving.
