In the columns of Le Parisien, a Vatican expert raised the possibility of a resignation rather than a death. “The speculation is more about a resignation than a death. From what we know, he is not at death’s door, even if no one is in his room and we must interpret Vatican statements with caution,” he declared.
Another journalist added that a pope “who can no longer travel and therefore evangelize… is no longer really a pope!” This reflection highlights the challenges Pope Francis could face if he had to reduce his activities due to persistent health problems.
