A Rough Beginning: Seal’s Early Life
Born Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel on February 19, 1963, in London, England, Seal’s early years were anything but easy. Raised in foster care and later by his stepmother and strict father, his childhood was marred by trauma and hardship. Yet, amidst the difficulties, Seal found solace in music.
“I’ve often described music as being the one thing that saved me,” Seal once shared. Music became his confidant, a source of comfort that made him feel less alone in the world. He viewed music as more than just a pastime; it was a lifeline and a form of spiritual healing.
