There are a number of reasons why adults might want to order off the kids’ menu. It could be the smaller portion size, the lower price, or maybe even the food itself (sometimes you just want a grilled cheese). But not everyone thinks adults should be allowed to order off the kids’ menu—and some restaurants even ban it.
Little did one TikTok influencer know that by simply ordering a kids’ menu cheese pizza, she was reigniting a debate that’s been raging for quite some time. Vanessa von Schwarz (@vanessaschwarzz) shared last year that she was shamed when she ordered a pizza from the kids’ menu at a hotel in Japan.
“I’m in Japan right now and I just ordered room service. The girl who brought it to my room opens the door and she’s like, ‘Where’s the kid?’ I was like ‘What do you mean?’” she said in the video.
Schwarz said that the hotel staff member continued to question her when it was apparent that there was no child present. Talk about awkward.
