1. Prepare the Soup Base

  • Place chicken in the slow cooker. Add broth, cream of chicken soup, onion, carrots, celery, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir well.

2. Cook the Chicken

  • Low setting: 6–8 hours
  • High setting: 3–4 hours
  • Chicken should be tender and shred easily with a fork.

3. Make the Dumplings

  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and parsley.
  • Stir in milk and melted butter until just combined (small lumps are okay—do not overmix).

4. Finish the Dish

  • Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker. Stir in peas (if using).
  • Drop spoonfuls of dumpling batter over the top, leaving small gaps for expansion.
  • Cover and cook on high for 30 minutes until dumplings are fluffy and cooked through.

5. Serve & Enjoy!

  • Gently stir before serving. Ladle into bowls and enjoy this cozy, homemade classic!
