What are the income limits?

(Amounts applicable to people living alone)

Île-de-France: €26,687 per year
Other regions: €23,201 per year
Who is concerned?
Tenants aged 65 and over.
Younger tenants accommodating a senior who meets these criteria.
What must the owner do?
Give six months’ notice (instead of three).
Offer equivalent accommodation nearby, adapted to the tenant’s needs.

Exception: If the owner himself is 65 years of age or older and has a modest income, he is not subject to this rehousing obligation.

How to react if your landlord gives you notice?

Check if you are eligible for this protection: age and income.
Remind your landlord of the law: he must offer compliant rehousing.
Contact ADIL (Agence Départementale pour l’Information sur le Logement) for free advice.
If necessary, take legal action: a court can cancel an unjustified or non-compliant notice.
