Step 1:
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Prepare your bundt pan by greasing it thoroughly with butter or shortening and lightly dusting with flour to prevent sticking.

Step 2:
In a medium bowl, mix the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Set aside.

Step 3:
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla.

Step 4:
Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients alternately with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the flour. Mix until just combined.

Step 5:
Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 6 (Make the Glaze):
While the cake bakes, combine butter, sugar, water, and vanilla in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved. Do not boil.

Step 7:
Remove cake from the oven. While still in the pan, poke holes all over the cake with a skewer or fork and slowly pour the warm glaze over the cake. Allow the cake to cool in the pan and absorb the glaze before turning out.

Enjoy!
