Even after the complete search was halted on June 29, Jay’s family never gave up seeking him. Despite knowing that the end would be so tragic, they remained hopeful and determined. The hope for Jay’s safe return has given way to sadness as his loved ones struggle to process this heartbreaking news.

Prior to disappearing, the teenager had taken a thrilling vacation to a music festival in Tenerife, but she disappeared into the mountains. Authorities have been looking for Jay for more than a week, as we previously reported.

Jay vanished in the Spanish mountainous areas of Tenerife, and his family was at that time frantically searching for information. After attending an intense music event, Lancashire-born apprentice bricklayer Jay vanished early on June 17, 2024.

His family and acquaintances were distressed by the child’s abrupt absence. This prompted volunteers and local officials to launch a massive search effort. After spending the night at a secluded Airbnb with two men he met at the NRG music event, Jay was last spotted strolling into the highlands to the north of Masca hamlet.

His brother Zak, 24, and father Warren Slater, 58, have flown to Tenerife to help with the hunt. On the sixth day of the search, Warren conveyed his uncertainty and heartache. Jay’s absence, he said, “doesn’t make sense.”

A young man who had gone on a walk and become lost—or possibly fallen—was the initial source of the story. However, it defies logic. Nobody would venture off that path. Why would he have made an incline? Given the size of the mountain, it is hazardous. Warren emphasized the improbable character of Jay’s chosen route by saying, “It’s not just a hill.”

In Santiago del Teide, his family has been posting posters about his going missing. They’re still puzzled by the enigmatic circumstances of Jay’s disappearance.

The Teno Rural Park has been thoroughly searched by fire departments, local police, mountain rescue teams, and members of the Civil Guard. They’ve tried, but they still don’t know where Jay is.

But according to Debbie Duncan, Jay’s mother, there may have been a sighting of Jay at a Santiago del Teide church. From Masca, this place is around 7 kilometers away.
