Instructions:
Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and prevents stickiness.
In a saucepan, heat the butter or oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir continuously for about 2 minutes until slightly toasted.
Pour in the broth, add the bay leaf, and season with salt and pepper. Stir well and bring to a boil.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, and let it simmer for 15-18 minutes until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender.
Remove from heat and let the rice rest, covered, for 10 minutes.
Discard the bay leaf, fluff the rice with a fork, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve hot. Enjoy your delicious, hotel-style rice!
