Biscuits:
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the milk and stir until just combined. Avoid overmixing to maintain the flakiness of the biscuits.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness.
- Use a biscuit cutter to cut out rounds and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown.
Chocolate Gravy:
- In a medium-sized saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, and sugar.
- Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and continue to whisk until the mixture thickens to a gravy-like consistency. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract until the butter is fully melted.
