Step 1: Gather the essential materials
Before you begin, check if you already have the following items at home:
- An unused modem : it will serve as a base and support for the antenna.
- A coaxial cable : essential for connecting the antenna to your TV.
- An aluminum can : perfect for amplifying the signal.
- A cutter and a file : for cutting and smoothing materials.
- A clamp : to handle parts with precision.
These tools are often easy to find at home, in a drawer or toolbox.
Step 2: Assemble your antenna in a few steps
- Prepare the modem

Remove unnecessary electronic components inside the modem. Clean the case so it is ready to accommodate the coaxial cable and bobbin.
- Connect the coaxial cable
Strip one end of the coaxial cable to expose the center conductor. Attach this conductor to the modem’s internal antenna, as this is the connection that will receive the TV signals.
- Turn the can into an amplifier
Carefully cut both ends of the can with a cutter to obtain a cylinder. File the edges to avoid injury. Then attach the can to the modem or directly to the coaxial cable to strengthen the signal reception.
