Open the car door – Source: spm
Most newer cars have a small, square-shaped button on the door handle. No, it’s not just a decorative feature; it actually serves a specific purpose.
Next time, instead of wasting time searching through your pockets or emptying your purse to find the key fob that will unlock the car, simply press the SKS (Smart Key System) button on the door handle. You may not have known this before, but a simple press of this button alerts the system, which will immediately search for your key near the vehicle (usually within 30 cm). If the entry system detects the correct signal, it will automatically unlock the door. Of course, if your key isn’t nearby, the door won’t open!
Likewise, when you get out of the car, there’s no need to use the key to unlock the doors. You just have to close the door and press that famous button. In some cases, when you leave the car, the car will lock itself after a few seconds, as you walk away.
The principle is the same for keyless start systems. Pressing the car’s Start/Stop button will activate the signal, and if the key fob is nearby, the car will start automatically. Note that some cars may have keyless entry but not keyless start, or vice versa.
Of course, for automotive technology enthusiasts, all this information isn’t new; it’s largely been acquired for a long time. But, perhaps some people haven’t yet familiarized themselves with all the elements that make up their new car. Therefore, the detail of the small button on the door is far from negligible. From now on, it will save you time searching for your keys!
Is keyless entry really that essential?
