Assassin bugs, also called “kissing bugs,” are insects that feed on blood. Their bite can spread parasites that cause Chagas disease, a serious illness that can harm the heart and other organs. Although insect bites are not common, it is important to be able to recognize the insect, take steps to avoid bites, and respond promptly if one occurs.
