When Yummy first came out, many fans criticized it as shallow, but Bieber persistently urged his fans to stream the video. It has now become apparent that the video contained hidden messages about the dark side of the entertainment industry, particularly alluding to details about Diddy’s “White Parties.” Images such as the sandwich, the red cherry on the table, and the act of removing a pink hoodie symbolized Bieber himself as a “meal” at the table, abused and stripped of his innocence.
Other visuals in the Yummy video, like children playing instruments, symbolize young talents like Bieber when they first enter the showbiz world, while the wealthy and powerful guests watching in the background represent Diddy’s parties. The mogul himself once hinted at the “sexual rewards” for attendees of these “White Parties” on Late Night With Conan O’Brien in 2002, which eerily matched the descriptions in Bieber’s video: “A handsome man for the ladies, of course. They need to drink water. I don’t know if anyone notices, but many of the ladies at the parties drink water, and they will leave if they don’t get what they want. I’ve got to keep them there, so I lock the doors.”
Many unsettling details in the Yummy video eerily align with what happened at Diddy’s “White Parties.”
