Processed meats: a well-hidden danger
Crispy bacon, sausage, hot dogs… These products are often appreciated for their taste, but they present a worrying risk. Nitrites and nitrates, used to preserve and color these meats, can transform into carcinogenic compounds when cooked at high temperatures. The World Health Organization (WHO) also classifies processed meats as proven carcinogens. It is preferable to opt for fresh meats and use natural spices for preservation.
Farmed fish: a less healthy alternative?
Eating fish is often recommended for health, but not all are equal. Farmed fish are often exposed to pollutants such as PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), substances known for their toxicity. In addition, the use of antibiotics and pesticides in these farms can have harmful effects on our bodies. If possible, choose wild fish or fish from environmentally friendly farms.
