As spathiphyllums grow, they can become pot-bound. If you notice roots coming out of the drainage holes or the soil drying out quickly, it’s time to repot them into a larger container. This will provide ample space for root growth and encourage flowering.
6. Keep temperatures stable
Spathiphyllums prefer warm temperatures, between 18 and 26°C. Protect them from drafts and extreme temperature fluctuations, which can stress the plant and affect its flowering.
7. Prune faded flowers and yellow leaves
Regularly removing yellowed leaves and faded flowers will allow the plant to focus on new growth and flowers. Use clean, sharp scissors to avoid damaging the plant.
8. Provide suitable soil
The right soil can make all the difference. Use a well-drained, peat-based potting mix. A well-aerated, well-draining soil will promote the overall health of the plant and help it flourish.
9. Consider the size of the pot
Although spathiphyllums can flourish with slightly knotted roots, a pot that is too small can limit growth and flowering. Conversely, a pot that is too large can lead to excess moisture in the soil and a risk of root rot. Choose a pot that gives the plant some space to grow, but not so much that the soil stays wet for too long.
