Esmeralda Marie Pineda, a 24-year-old woman from California who had been missing for 12 days, was found alive but “severely dehydrated and emaciated,” according to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office. Pineda was discovered at the top of a river canyon near the Yuba River, north of Sacramento, in a particularly “treacherous” area that made the search challenging.
